Meet the Projects

LIGNOFUN plans to establish bio-based aromatics as an integral part of international markets, thereby creating sustainable alternatives to fossil-based raw materials. This market acceptance will be demonstrated through a series of relevant product applications, with stakeholders actively involved in the validation process.

SUSPENSE focuses on the development and demonstration of sustainable, safe, and high-performance bio-based adhesives as a viable substitute for fossil-based products (containing formaldehyde and isocyanate) in applications such as construction and furniture. More specifically, the SUSPENSE process introduces two production routes to demonstrate:

  • Techno-economic viability of producing bio-based adhesives as a substitute for fossil-based products for applications in wood-based panels (e.g., plywood, particle board, MDF, insulation panels).
  • Better valorization of renewable feedstocks—to replace hazardous chemicals, ensuring zero pollution and enhanced safety for manufacturers and end-users.
