On 12 November 2025, the Bioeconomy Austria Summit gathered in Vienna under the theme “Competitiveness. Resilience. Climate” and it was a powerful demonstration of how deeply bioeconomy is rooted in Austria’s future strategy. The event brought together leading companies, research institutions, industry leaders, and policymakers from across the country to showcase solutions that unite climate ambition, value creation and resource security.

The event featured a full programme of presentations, 23 exhibitors and discussions ranging from bio-based innovation in practice, to regional value creation, recycling and circular economy models, and bioeconomy as a driver of resilience and climate protection. Speakers from science, industry, and public authorities highlighted how Austria is already leading the way in bio-based innovation and how much more potential lies ahead.
The organisers highlighted some striking numbers: Austria’s bioeconomy already contributes about 8% of national GDP, supports more than 35,000 companies and 400,000 jobs, and generates around €180 billion in annual revenue. On a broader scale, the European bioeconomy is positioned as a major growth pillar, with over €800 billion in annual value creation.
SUSBOARD was proud to take part in this year’s summit with a dedicated stand that generated significant engagement and interest. Throughout the day, the SUSBOARD team from Wood K Plus and RTDS Group engaged with visitors from universities, research organisations, SMEs, industry associations, and public bodies from all Austrian provinces. All visitors were eager to understand how our 100 % bio-based, formaldehyde-free adhesive can contribute to a more sustainable panel production chain. The high level of interest confirmed how relevant our mission is to Austria’s broader bioeconomy ambitions. Additionally, visitors appreciated that SUSBOARD builds on real European know-how while addressing concrete industry needs for safer, greener, and more competitive materials.
The summit provided an ideal environment to showcase the progress of the project and strengthen connections within Austria’s growing bioeconomy ecosystem. The overarching message of the summit was clear: bioeconomy is not a niche, but a strategic economic driver and collaborative EU projects like SUSBOARD are an essential part of this journey.
